At VCI Construction, as a Groundman, you’ll support an Aerial Telecom Crew with the installation and maintenance of fiber/telecom cables and materials. We're looking for a Groundman to join our Aerial Crew team and help connect America. As a Groundman you will perform duties related to install and and repair aerial telecommunications cable and ensure scope of work performed is within standards required by customers.

What you’ll do as a Laborer Telecom Aerial
- Provide tools, parts, and materials to crew members as needed
- Reposition or move bucket trucks, trailers, or equipment as directed
- Ensure that door-tagging and resident notifications for construction activities are completed before starting work each day
- Stock, clean, and maintain all company vehicles and equipment
- Perform hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools
- Direct/flag traffic flow in line with local DOT guidelines
- Work overtime, travel, and perform on-call/afterhours responsibilities as needed
- Perform work in all weather conditions
- Other duties as assigned
- Complete & maintain all required training
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Certified pole climber or be willing to become certified
- Previous labor experience in telecommunications is a plus
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level at heights, in confined spaces and in remote locations, climb stairs, bend, stoop, stand, walk and lift up to 55 pounds, operate vehicle & heavy machinery
- Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
Salary Range $18 - $23 / hour (D.O.E.)
