What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinic Coordinator position at VCU Dental Care?
Chief Purpose of the Position:
The Clinic Coordinator’s responsibilities will include the following:
- Ensuring all students are present and accounted for in the clinic each morning and afternoon
- Be the point of contact for student’s schedules with regard to rotations, leave, illness, and other reasons of absence
- Responsible to inform the attending dentist or faculty of such an absence and further assist students with patient notification and rescheduling patients
- Update, print and post both am/pm SOD’s group practice schedules daily
- Assist students with canceled and failed patient appointments
- Assist students with filling available chairs with patients from appointment requests and communicating with patients
- Manage individual group practice chairs daily for chair utilization
- Assist CRC team with records compliance for dental students
- Assist with daily screenings and hand-offs to CRC for student assignment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a dental practice or dental school
- In-depth knowledge of dental terminology, patient scheduling, and chair utilization
- A modest understanding of dental insurance
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, students, and faculty
- Computer skills required - working experience with an EHR system (Axium)
- Excellent collaboration and leadership skills and the ability to work within a team efficiently and effectively
- Ability to multitask and independently or with co-worker and students in a close, team environment
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and superior customer service
Education Level and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent
- College education strongly preferred
- Preferred experience in a medical or dental office setting
- Customer service experience required
- Accounts receivable and/or insurance verification or coordination preferred
- Windows-based computer and data entry skills required
- Experience in dental software and knowledge of CDT codes preferred
Hiring Range: commensurate with experience
