What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant- Prosthodontics position at VCU Dental Care?
Chief Purpose of the Position
The Dental Assistant in our Prosthodontics department supports dental care delivery by: preparing the treatment rooms, patient, instruments and materials. Passing instruments and materials. Performing procedures in compliance with the dental clinic and/or tasked delegated by the treating dentist, attending faculty dentist, dental resident or student. Performing standard infection control procedures; taking necessary X-Rays as delegated.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required
- Knowledge of dental procedures, dental self care, utilization of materials, instruments and equipment
- Knowledge of standard infection control protocols
- Knowledge of daily preventive maintenance of dental instruments, equipment and accessories
- Knowledge of techniques used in dental radiography in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Knowledge of dental office administrative procedures and principles of dental office record keeping
- Able to navigate using a computer
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work as part of a team
- Proven ability to deliver high level of customer service
Education level and experience required:
- Dental Assisting experience, 2 years minimum preferred
- Previous experience with dental implants
- CDA certification preferred
- CPR Certification preferred
- X-Ray Certification required
- High School diploma or equivalent required
Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience
