What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician, Digital Dentistry position at VCU Dental Care?
Chief Purpose of the Position
This position functions as a liaison between the students and the labs and works closely with the Digital Dentistry Dental Assistants and Lab Techs on a daily basis to ensure restorations and prosthesis are fabricated according to lab scripts in a timely manner, assisting students with designing and staining crowns.
Job duties include but not limited to:
- Fabricate restorations and removable appliances
- 3D printing and post processing
- Design and fabricate dental prostheses using digital dentistry software.
- Perform chairside shade matching
- Teach staining glaze class for students
- Inspect incoming cases to ensure all necessary information is present
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required
- Working knowledge of dental materials is required
- Excellent customer service and willingness to assist students, staff and faculty is required
- Basic Computer skills required
- Excellent recall and memorization skills

- Ability to multitask, work independently and with co-workers in a team and close environment

- Ability to learn new software and designs programs

Education level and experience required:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Previous Experience using Planmeca, 3shape, ExoCad, and Plancad, Formlabs, Sprintray, medit preferred
- Experience with inventory management systems and controls preferred
- Previous experience in sending and receiving case in a digital workflow
- 2 years of previous experience working in a lab required
- Computer Skills required in Microsoft Office, Google Suite
Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience
