What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Dental Assistant- Pediatric Dentistry position at VCU Dental Care?
Chief Purpose of the Position:
The Lead Dental Assistant, under the direction of the Clinic Manager, is to provide oversight, leadership, and mentorship to fellow dental assistants. To assist in the efficiency and functionality of patient care and clinic optimization to ensure department goals are met.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of dental procedures, dental self-care, utilization of materials, equipment, instruments and supplies
- Knowledge of standard infection control protocols
- Knowledge of daily preventive maintenance of dental instruments, equipment and accessories
- Knowledge of techniques used in dental radiography in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Knowledge of dental office administrative procedures and principles of dental office record keeping
- Basic computer knowledge
- Familiar with dental treatments done daily: prophy, sealants, fluoride treatment, crowns (stainless steel, nu Smiles and strips) RCT, composite, flowable, fugi, etc..
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to consistently deliver high level of customer service
- Ability to self-start and motivate others
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform 4-handed dentistry
Education Level and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR certification, preferred
- X-Ray certification, required
- CDA or DANB certification, recommended
- Bilingual, preferred
- Three years of previous pediatric dental assistant experience required
Hiring Range: commensurate with experience
