Core Competencies
Perform all the duties of a Mammography Technologist I.
Capable of providing accurate explanations and instructions to the patient and family using age-appropriate language and verifying that the patient understands and agrees to the completion of the ordered exam.
Capable of performing ordered exams or therapy in accordance with established imaging protocols while respecting the patient’s ability and comfort.
Capable of adhering to policies and utilizing protocols to determine that expected outcomes have been met.
Capable of documenting deviations from protocol and/or patient-specific issues that may impact image quality.
Capable of notifying the appropriate health care provider when an immediate clinical response is necessary based on procedural findings, patient condition, or other relevant concerns that may impact patient safety or care.
Expected to timely complete all required post-processing, image display, and transfer for physician review.
Expected demonstrates timely order closure, charge entry, and PACS QA completion.
Expected to routinely cover open shifts as appropriate based on your level of competency.
Capable of Initiating service calls and following up until issues are resolved.
Advanced Competencies
Capable of independently performing all 'routine' Breast Imaging exams utilizing the Section protocols.
Competent in US-guided breast biopsies.
Competent in performing ductography.
Knowledge and Competency
Experienced and competent in routine and complex studies.
Complete understanding of technical standards, scope of practice, department and health system policies, and safety and service standards.
Complete understanding of imaging equipment, image processing software, instrumentation, and ancillary patient care equipment.
Education, Certification & Experience
The position requires Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB), ARRT-M, BLS, and have successfully completed their 6-month orientation.
(Individuals with at least one year of experience can be hired directly into this role.)
