Position Summary: The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) is hiring an hourly research laboratory technician to support the principal investigator with general laboratory tasks, including specific research projects and overall lab operations. The technician will assist in studies exploring the molecular mechanisms associated with the SPAG17 gene. This is a grant-funded position.Core Responsibilities:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of lab experience, which may include student experience, required; however, a bachelor’s degree will be considered in lieu of experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and interpret data.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with colleagues.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological sciences.
- Previous experience with laboratory procedures in general cell and molecular biology, including cell culture, DNA/protein quantification, PCR, immunoblotting and mouse handling.
