Mission or Goal of Unit: Our vision is to be the premier orthopaedic provider in the central Virginia region. Our mission is to provide superb clinical care to our patients, educate the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons and expand the orthopaedic knowledge base through basic, clinical and translational research utilizing excellent, evidence-based, efficient patient care along with thorough and responsive consultation in orthopaedic sports medicine services for orthopaedic patients across the health system.Chief Purpose of this position: We are seeking candidates to directly care for patients in the orthopaedic sports medicine service line. The candidate will improve quality and efficiency of orthopaedic services at VCU Health System and provide prompt high-quality orthopaedic sports medicine care. The incumbent will assist and develop orthopaedic faculty with interest in new technologies, clinical research and teaching along with mentoring residents and fellows and working within the hospital system and with other departments to provide multidisciplinary care for orthopaedic sports medicine patients.Position Responsibilities: 1. Teaching
The candidate will staff inpatient services with learners including medical students, interns and residents; use contemporary adult learning methods to promote evidence-based practice; demonstrate effective teaching skills and continually develop as a teacher for learners at all levels; complete required evaluations of learners in a timely manner.

- Must have successfully completed an accredited fellowship program in orthopaedic sports medicine.
- Record of scholarly publication in peer review journals.
- Direct experience managing complex orthopaedic sports medicine cases, competence in standard inpatient procedures.
- A solid understanding of the orthopaedic sports medicine role and function and interest in teaching and growth in an academic setting.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, providing effective communication, both verbal and written.
- Interest in furthering the research, scholarly and academic missions of the group.
