Mission or Goal of Unit: To provide superior, compassionate and innovative clinical care to our patients using state of the art knowledge and resources and to conduct and disseminate clinical research and scholarship, with a focus on the care of patients and education of future clinicians.
Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is seeking a faculty clinician, with an interest in General Gastroenterology to function within the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical - Provide clinical services in the gastroenterology clinics at VCUHS, to include both clinics on the MCVH campus and in gastroenterology outreach locations. Participate in the inpatient management of patients with GI conditions as well as participating in attending on the Digestive Health Service at VCUHS. Incumbent will also perform diagnostic endoscopic procedures.
Teaching – Provide teaching to medical students, residents and fellows in the management of patients with GI conditions.
Research-Utilize basic science and/or clinical research experience in order to pursue research.
Required Qualifications:
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
- Must be facile with diagnostic endoscopy
- Eligible for Virginia medical licensure
- Basic science and/or clinical research experience
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
