What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Pharmacist- Ambulatory/Retail position at VCUHSA VCU Health System Authority?
The Pharmacist Lead job ensures the overall integrity, safety, rationality, and effectiveness of the drug use control process for all patients in the assigned geographic or specialty area, including the following patient groups: Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy required or obtained within the first 90 days of employment Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy Experience REQUIRED: N/A Experience PREFERRED: Minimum of one (1) year of pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting. Previous experience with state of the art drug distribution and clinical service methods and drug information sources and retrieval and communication methods. Education/training REQUIRED: Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited academic program Education/training PREFERRED: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited academic program Independent action(s) required: The monitoring, screening and verification of all drug-related orders for assurance of proper dosage, route, dosage form, and administration schedule and ensuring expedited preparation and dispensing of all dosage forms by pharmacy personnel. Resolve drug therapy problems, clarify and correct problematic drug orders, designate pharmacy technicians to perform special assignments, counsel patients regarding the safe and proper use of their medications, and resolve equipment and operational problems. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: Must be available to work evenings, nights and weekends.
