What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vertical Transportation Consultant position at VDA | Elevator/Escalator Consulting & Inspection Firm?
Primary Purpose: Manage various projects involving scope and working with different design teams. Maintains the relationship between the contractors, clients, and VDA employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Able to deliver project efficiently / profitably / independently – identify project scope.
- Develop project through concepts schematics then pass off to designers / project managers for follow through.
- Manage large / complicated / unusual international projects.
- Develop new standards and processes for VDA use.
- Able to meet w/clients independently to review and coordinate project.
- Coordinate project requirements and develop specifications.
- Mentor and train junior staff.
- Foster and create business relationships with prospective and existing clients.
- Perform other job related duties as necessary or assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering / general engineering preferred or equivalent or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Five to Ten years of progressively responsible work experience in a similar role. Experience working in a fast-paced environment and being detail-oriented.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, given the routine issues that may occur when processing reports and proposals.
- Strong communication skills, with a cooperative attitude.
- Self-motivator, able to drive projects forward with a degree of independence.
- Possesses/ develops an in-depth knowledge of processes and an understanding of technical terminology.
- Maintained confidentiality of contract(s) and personal information.
- Submitted timesheets and expenses in accordance with billing terms.
- Assisted accounting with the collection of outstanding accounts.
- Maintained contact externally with clients, architects and building managers and internally with staff at all levels.
- Occasionally collaborate with Associates and Design Engineers on different assignments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate effectively with people remotely.
- Interpersonal, communications, and problem-solving skills necessary.
- Be proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, use hands or fingers, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, kneel, talk or hear.
