Job Description

We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator (8 years) with expertise in DB2 UDB on z/OS. The role involves database upgrades, performance tuning, security management, and disaster recovery to ensure a high-performing and secure DB2 environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with DB2 utilities, system catalogs, and DBDC (CICS, DB2, IMS) base software management.

Key Responsibilities

• DB2 Upgrade & Migration:

• Upgrade/Migrate DB2 versions to newer versions.
• Apply PTFs/APARs as required.
• Upgrade and manage DB2 IVS products to supported versions.

• Database Administration & Performance Optimization:

• Manage system catalogs, application data, and database environments.
• Perform database reorganizations to optimize performance.
• Execute offline utilities (DSNJLOGF, DSNJU004, DSNJU003).
• Monitor threads, tablespaces, and index spaces for performance optimization.
• Conduct SQL and database performance tuning.

• Security & Compliance:

• Manage user IDs, rights, and privileges for database security.
• Implement DBDC (CICS, DB2, IMS) software installs, upgrades, and security compliance corrections.
• Grant/Revoke authorities as needed.

• Backup & Disaster Recovery:

• Implement DB2 Image Copies (full/incremental).
• Manage DB2 archive logs and disaster recovery setup through various sync methods.
• Perform DB2 recycle activities.

• Database Object Management:

• Build and maintain database objects (tablespaces, tables, indexes, views, triggers).
• Execute online utilities such as CHECKDATA, COPY, QUIESCE, REPAIR, REORG, LOAD, and UNLOAD.
• Implement physical database definitions (DDL) and align with logical database design.

• Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

• Monitor DB2 instances for events and escalate issues as needed.
• Implement DB2 command-line executions for database management.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning and indexing strategies.

Qualifications

• Educational Background:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Experience Requirements:

• Total: 8 years of experience in DB2 UDB on z/OS.
• Relevant: Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in DB2 administration, performance tuning, and security.

• Technical Expertise:

• Strong knowledge of DB2 administration on z/OS.
• Expertise in DB2 performance tuning, backup, recovery, and monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with DBDC (CICS, DB2, IMS) software installs and upgrades.
• Experience in SQL query tuning and DB2 command-line execution.
• Familiarity with DB2 utilities (both online and offline).
• Understanding of database security best practices and disaster recovery methods.
