Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator to manage and support our enterprise Microsoft Windows environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS, Windows servers, file and print services, and more ensuring maximum uptime, implementing robust backup and disaster recovery strategies, and providing exceptional technical support. This role requires adherence to SLAs, mentoring team members, and proactive troubleshooting, with an emphasis on process improvement and multi-geo support.
Key Responsibilities
- System & Infrastructure Management:
- Ensure maximum uptime by monitoring system performance, applying patches, updates, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Oversee installation, configuration, and migration of systems and hardware.
- Plan and implement backup/restoration strategies for 24x7 operational support.
- Technical Support & Process Management:
- Handle tickets and requests efficiently, performing root cause analysis and documenting resolutions.
- Define and enforce processes to maintain high service quality and compliance with SLAs.
- Mentor and train team members to bridge skill gaps and improve overall support capabilities.
- Network & Environment Oversight:
- Manage and maintain Active Directory infrastructure, including AD Domain Controllers, DNS, WINS, and DHCP servers.
- Create, test, and implement Group Policies and manage FSMO roles.
- Oversee file and print server management and Windows security configurations.
- Support and troubleshoot Windows clustering, load balancing, RAID management, and array controllers.
- Manage virtualization environments using VMware; experience with Citrix is a plus.
- Monitoring, Documentation & Communication:
- Utilize monitoring tools to track system performance and proactively identify issues.
- Document processes, system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring excellent customer interaction.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in system administration with a focus on Microsoft operating systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Active Directory and DNS structures, including Domain Controller replication and Group Policy management.
- Strong experience with Windows Server 2000/2003 and comprehensive troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in managing file and print servers, Windows Security, and antivirus products.
- Demonstrated ability in recovery operations for AD Domain Controllers, DNS, WINS, and DHCP servers.
- Extensive experience in RAID management, array controllers, and Windows clustering/load balancing.
- Solid expertise in backup solutions and experience with monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with OEM hardware (DELL/HP/IBM) and remote connectivity tools.
- Experience with patch management systems (WSUS & SMS) and working with Windows Registry for system configuration.
- Proven experience in managing VMware environments.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills with excellent communication and customer interaction abilities.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with Citrix environments.
- Relevant certifications in Microsoft Windows Server administration or similar disciplines.
