Role : Sr. Systems Engineer
Duration : 3 month Contract To hire
Location : Edison, NJ onsite 4 days a week
Essential Functions
Design, implement, and maintain server infrastructure, including operating systems, virtualization platforms, and storage solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
Develop and maintain system documentation, including configuration procedures, troubleshooting guides, and disaster recovery plans.
Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement, recommending and implementing upgrades and optimizations.
Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and applications.
Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages and configuration management tools.
Participate in on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical systems.
Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for improving the organization's IT infrastructure.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior systems engineers.
Additional Functions
Proficiency in administering Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
Design, maintain, and optimize Active Directory (AD), Group Policy (GPO), and identity management solutions.
Implement and manage Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and hybrid identity integrations.
Configure and monitor AD replication, trust relationships, DNS, and Kerberos authentication.
Enhance security through Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication), and Conditional Access Policies. Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
Manage and maintain VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN environments.
Design and implement highly available and disaster recovery solutions for virtualized infrastructure.
Optimize VM performance, storage, and networking configurations.
Troubleshoot VMware issues, resource allocation, and security hardening. Knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Understanding of security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability management.
Experience with storage solutions such as SAN and NAS.
Administer Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022), including file systems, clustering, and security policies.
Manage DNS, DHCP, and Windows Failover Clustering to ensure network reliability.
Implement patch management and system hardening best practices.
Knowledge of database administration, including SQL Server and MySQL.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role.
Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale IT infrastructure.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues under pressure.
Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices.
Experience with automation and orchestration tools.
Implement Zero Trust security models for identity, network, and endpoint security.
Manage PKI, certificate services, and encryption technologies.
Ensure compliance with PCI, NIST, ISO 27001, and ITIL best practices.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and backup solutions for business continuity.
Conduct regular failover testing and recovery drills.
Implement data replication, Azure Site Recovery, and VMware SRM.
