Position Summary/Objective
As a key member of the Information Technology group, the Senior Systems Developer will utilize best practices and methodologies to set, develop and maintain the organization's custom-built applications. Responsibilities include the design, development and implementation of dynamic websites, applications, and mobile applications using a variety of languages and development platforms as well as mentoring junior development staff. The Senior Systems Developer will work extensively with internal teams, management, and partners, providing subject matter expertise, hands-on development and will help set the future direction of our development and development toolsets.
Essential Functions
- Staying current with new software development trends and best practices in order help to drive future architecture and development direction.
- Code review your peer's development work and offer suggestions for more concise and maintainable code.
- Mentor and educate junior staff members.
- Design, develop and maintain high-quality code for web applications, pages, databases and supporting modules.
- Programming of classes, functions, and scripts with sufficient error handling and protection against common hacks and exploits.
- Review requirements for new or enhanced functionality, performs gap analysis and identifies product customizations to meet requirements.
- Design, develop, document, and troubleshoot complex integrations between other business applications.
- Write implementation plans, install, and test new systems, ensuring that the data and system work according to expectations.
- Create and maintain system and end user documentation.
- Other development activities may include database administration support, interface support, operating environment support and enterprise portal support.
- Analyze business process flows between consumers, IT, and other departments to maximize system use.
- Act as a resource for the resolution of complex issues. Provide technical expertise and coaching of key stakeholders.
- Explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to clients and staff.
- Read, interpret, and apply technical instructions.
- Keep current by reading, interpreting, and applying information on technological changes and updates.
- Prioritize requests, organize, schedule, and coordinate a variety of activities and projects.
- Ability to learn new software and hardware packages.
- Adapt to changes in technology.
- Work independently and as a team member.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all those contacted during the course of work.
Work Environment
This position operates in an office environment and involves working mostly in a quiet setting with periodic supervision.

Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility but mentors IT development personnel.
Travel Work-related travel is limited to training required of the position.
Required Education and Experience
- BS in Computer Science or related field.
- 7 years of experience in .NET technologies (C# preferred).
- 7 years of experience in designing Microsoft SQL Server data models.
- 7 years of experience developing with Microsoft SQL Server stored procedures, views, triggers, functions, etc.
- Direct experience developing applications with software languages and development tools including: ASP.NET, C#.NET, WPF, XAML, SQL, AJAX, ADO.NET, J2EE, jQuery, HTML5, JavaScript, web service integration (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML), PowerShell.
- Direct experience developing mobile applications using native or open source platforms for iOS / Android / Windows Mobile preferred.
- Experience with Visual Studio Development environment.
- Experience with Team Foundation Server, Git or equivalent Source control system.
- Experience with SQL Server administration and development preferred.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.
- Working knowledge of Relational Databases.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or equivalent training and experience.
- 7 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
- Technology Certifications.
