Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy equipment, including cranes, excavators, bulldozers, and other machinery used in subsurface and pole-setting projects. You will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues on construction equipment, ensuring they remain in optimal working condition for demanding projects.
What You'll Do
- Up to 75% travel required (out of state frequently) Schedule would be 10 days out / 4 days home OR 21 days out in field / 7 days home
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various heavy construction equipment, including cranes, excavators, bulldozers, and more.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and make repairs as needed.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe to operate.
- Collaborate with project managers, operators, and other team members to ensure equipment readiness for construction activities.
- Troubleshoot and repair engine, transmission, and hydraulic systems, among other critical components.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations, prioritizing safe working practices at all times.
- Work in a variety of environments, including remote locations and job sites with challenging conditions.
- Assist in managing inventory and ordering necessary parts for equipment repairs.
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably with a background in construction, subsurface, or pole-setting projects.
- Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of a variety of heavy construction machinery (e.g., cranes, excavators, bulldozers).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and heavy equipment diagnostics tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects, work in outdoor environments, and perform repairs in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- A valid CDL (Commercial Drivers License) is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training programs to stay current on new equipment technologies and safety protocols.
