Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Designer or skilled Journeyman to join our panel shop team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and drafting electrical systems for various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical wiring, system design, and proficiency in design software.
Duties
- Develop detailed electrical designs and schematics using CAD software.
- Collaborate with project engineers to create system designs that meet project requirements and specifications.
- Draft and revise electrical layouts, wiring diagrams, and panel designs to ensure accuracy and functionality.
- Implement logic controllers in design processes and control systems.
- Conduct thorough reviews of designs to identify potential issues or improvements before implementation.
- Maintain organized documentation of all design processes, revisions, and communications related to projects.
- Design electrical process and power control panels for manufacturing in the panels shop.
- Ensure that all designs meet the requirements of Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
- Maintain working knowledge of industry requirements required to perform your duties.
- Responsible for all aspects of panel and electrical design to include:
- Components meet UL or UL recognized as needed
- Completed design meets UL as required
- Enclosure classification, materials and sizing
- Circuit breaker and/or fuse sizing
- Conductor sizing, type, & finish in compliance with applicable specifications.
- Tubing size, type, & material complaint with applicable specifications.
- Wire sizing, type, & color in compliance with applicable specifications.
- All panel, wire, conduit, & tubing in compliance with customer AML (when applicable).
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) selection and implementation
- Panel functionality and construction per the customer’s specification
- Coordinate panel design with project managers.
- Provide Completed design per the required schedule to allow purchasing and assembly.
Requirements
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD) is essential; experience with Revit is a plus.
- Strong understanding of electrical wiring principles and system design methodologies.
- Knowledge of logic controllers and their application in electrical systems is required.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Journeyman electrician or a related field is preferred but not mandatory for candidates with relevant experience.
