Duties
- Delivers specific delegated Customer Service tasks assigned by a supervisor.
- Receives requests by mail, telephone, or in person regarding insurance claims/policies.
- Responds to inquiries from policyholders, providers, and/or others for information and assistance.
- Performs research to respond to inquiries and interprets policy provisions to determine the most effective response.
- Mails or routes claim forms and supporting documentation to various units for final processing.
- The position typically requires excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to understand and interpret policy provisions.
- Independently responds to inquiries, grievances, or complaints of moderate to substantial complexity.
- Completes day-to-day tasks without immediate supervision, but has ready access to advice from more experienced team members.
- Tasks involve a degree of planning and anticipation of needs/issues.
- Resolves non-routine issues escalated from more junior team members.
Skills
- Previous experience in the healthcare industry 1-2 years with third-party benefits verification experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Office, and SharePoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and appropriately follow policies, procedures, manuals, and written instructions as given.
- Demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations professionally.
- Willingness to work on varying tasks.
- Knowledge of healthcare pharmaceuticals and services is a plus.
Education
High School diploma and at least 1-2 years of customer service, insurance verification, or related area required.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $16.25 - $17.00 per hour
