Overview
Veeco, Horsham is looking for a detail-oriented, hands-on, results-driven Production Planner with proven communication skills and a strong work ethic to work in a challenging, fast-paced, energetic environment. In conjunction with the Manager, the Production Planner will work to execute focused supply chain solutions that support business objectives, inventory management, and new product development. The Production Planner will be responsible for planning activities that include the Master Planning/Scheduling function of Sub-Assemblies with a direct link to the higher-level Assembly Schedule to maximize on-time delivery to the customer. You will partner with Procurement, Logistics, Project Engineering, Manufacturing, and other groups to develop a production plan, inventory strategies, and tactics to manage Inventory. You will also support process improvement opportunities including Inventory management, excess, and obsolete inventory, and production materials flow.
Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience.
Strong understanding of MRP and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards related to End-to-End Supply Chain concepts.
Experience in scheduling manufacturing and production control techniques.

Responsibilities
- Act on order release actions and exceptions messages from SAP. Reschedule work orders in case of capacity/supply constraints, material/labor shortages, backlogs to meet Systems & Spares manufacturing requirements.
- Foresee and escalate potential scheduling interruptions or constraints (resources, capacity, component shortages) to the management team as well as the manufacturing team to lessen or avoid the impact on the production schedule.
- Proactively communicate on component/sub-assembly availability and commitments to customer service orders, as well as manufacturing, to minimize potential backorders.
- Review and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Review and process Material Review Board Notifications according to material disposition and monitor the impact on the availability of material.
- Manage Inter-company purchase orders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups including Logistics, Supply Chain, Sales, and Engineering.
- Be a subject matter expert of the production/material process flow and be a partner to the manufacturing team.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers to ensure that requirements to support the manufacturing operations are met.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Strong understanding of MRP and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards related to End-to-End Supply Chain concepts.
Experience in scheduling manufacturing and production control techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Preferred experience with ERP systems and planning software – SAP a plus.
- Strong communication, presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- APICS Certification a plus
- Sound leadership qualities and demonstrated good judgment.
- Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office experience required.
- Understanding ISO-9000, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Juran is highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate well with all levels of staff and with other departments, both written and verbal.
- Experience working with high-tech capital equipment or regulated environment.
