Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Observability Engineer to join our team in Plano, TX. This role is critical in enhancing system visibility, improving reliability, and enabling performance optimization across large-scale, cloud-native environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize observability tools and frameworks for large-scale distributed systems.
- Implement and manage OpenTelemetry (OTEL) components including agents, collectors, and gateways.
- Design dashboards, alerts, and metrics pipelines with Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, and Splunk Observability.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate observability into backend services using Python, Java, Node.js, or Golang.
- Leverage AWS Cloud for scalable deployment and ensure monitoring is aligned with cloud best practices.
- Work closely with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to identify and resolve system performance issues.
- Champion observability best practices and foster a culture of proactive system monitoring.
Required Qualifications
- Solid hands-on experience in backend development using Python, Java, Node.js, or Golang.
- Strong expertise with OpenTelemetry (OTEL) and associated agents, collectors, and gateways.
- Proven experience working with Splunk (Enterprise, Cloud, and Observability).
- Proficiency in AWS Cloud architecture and services; AWS Developer or Fundamentals certification preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certification (Developer Associate or above)
- Experience working in a DevOps or SRE environment
- Knowledge of container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS)
