Job Description:
Performs all ultrasound procedures upon the order of a licensed independent practitioner for diagnostic interpretation by a radiologist.
Education:
Completion of Sonography Program - Preferred
Certifications/Licensures:
Currently credentialed with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, with a current RDMS license with subspecialty registries in Abdomen and OB/GYN, and current RVT license.
RVT Registered Vascular Technologist - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography – Must be obtained within 90 days of hire, with the exception of new graduates, who must obtain their RVT license within 14 months.
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required
If the technologist is unable to comply in acquiring their missing sub-specialty license due to extenuating circumstances, one 90-day extension can be granted only at the discretion of the Medical Imaging Director.
Vascular ultrasound tech must have certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Completion of a RN training program will be accepted in place of certification.
Vascular Ultrasound Tech must have BLS Certification
Vascular Ultrasound technician If LPN, must have current, valid State of Florida license as a Licensed Professional Nurse. Additional Surgical Technician certification not required.
Vascular Ultrasound Tech must have Basic aseptic/sterile technique skills Knowledge of surgical instrumentation You Will Be Responsible For: Demonstrates through behavior AdventHealth’s core Values of Keep Me Safe, Love Me, Make it Easy, and Own It.
Prepare the exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct examinations Assist radiologists as needed with ultrasound-guided biopsies and vascular ultrasound procedures
Recognize and record the appropriate anatomy and pathology using sonographic equipment
Care properly for sonography equipment and report equipment failure
Write reports based upon the scan results and completion
Alert appropriate medical staff of any abnormalities that need immediate attention
Use the ability to solve problems and make decisions
Work independently or with minimal supervision and as part of a team
Manage multiple priorities and projects, and display flexibility in a fast-paced work environment
Display good work ethic and friendly and cheerful disposition
Maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality
Pursue professional development for the continual improvement of patient care
