What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern - Compound Lab position at VEKA?
JOB SUMMARY: To perform quality assurance evaluations on incoming materials and blended compound; record accurately all test data and prepare reports; assist with or lead the evaluation of new raw materials as assigned; and perform all other duties in a timely manner.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Perform Evaluations of Blended Material and Incoming Materials
- Sample preparation and monitoring of outdoor and accelerated weathering
- Assist with or lead the testing of new raw materials or processes as assigned
- Record data and write reports summarizing testing of new raw materials or processes
SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Use current lab equipment such as FTIR to categorize various raw materials
- Recommend alternate techniques to better categorize raw materials
- Research and suggest alternative test methods for more accurate results
- Communicate with Team Members on current tests and results
- Interact with vendors on ability to identify key differences with similar raw materials
- Develop reports identifying characteristic changes in raw materials
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Use good judgement and make decisions quickly, be well organized, have good communication skills, ability to work with minimal supervision and with other coworkers and groups, must be able to handle multiple tasks, have and maintain a cooperative attitude.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 2 years of Chemistry, Material, or Polymer Courses at College Level. Polymer background preferred but not required. Experience working in a laboratory setting.
