What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metering and Settlement Intern position at VELCO?
The Metering and Settlement intern executes the daily Metering, Scheduling, Market Settlements and monthly Power Billings with review and guidance from supervisor. In addition, they learn and understand the VELCO and VPPSA Markets billings, Schedule 21 billings, and TRANSCO OATT billing.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for the execution of the daily Metering, Scheduling, Market Settlements and Monthly Power billings as indicated.
• Responsible for the daily collection and processing of meter data for the accurate and timely completion of the metering and meter resettlement submittal to ISO-NE.
• Responsible for the accurate, comprehensive, and timely completion of daily/ monthly settlement of wholesale markets and to analyze, recommend, design, and support implement protocols for processing settlement.
• Provides support in regards to completion of the invoicing, maintenance of the audit processes and disaggregation of Vermont participants billing data for the following:
- ISO Wholesale Markets
- VT TRANSCO Tariff Billing
- Vermont Transmission Agreement (VTA)
- VPPSA Markets and ISO-NE Tariff Billings
- Schedule 21 Billings
• Responsible for the meter interval data collection, management, and analysis through Itron MV90xi application.
• Additional duties as assigned.
Education & Training
A minimum high school education required. Working towards college Degree in Accounting or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Must be able to handle large amounts of information and synthesize decisions/recommendations to balance cost with risk. Must also be a self-starter who can multi-task and effectively troubleshoot. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and high attention to detail are essential. A high level of reliability, precision, and attention to detail is essential. The ability to work independently is necessary; however, VELCO’s team environment requires support and information sharing throughout the company.
Physical/Mental Demands
Prolonged periods of working on a computer. Must be able to maintain fast pace while completing complex, analytical work, in potentially stressful situations, with competing priorities, within tight timelines and with frequent interruptions.
Important Considerations
• VELCO is headquarted in Rutland, Vermont. This is a hybrid position and the expectation is that the incumbent will spend at least two days per week onsite and more as needed.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to respond to off-duty calls, particularly in the event of system emergencies, prolonged equipment and/or customer outages.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
