What are the responsibilities and job description for the Global Category Manager position at Velocity Flex?
The Global Category Manager proactively manages purchasing activities and provides support to supplier management system. This individual will execute procurement duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Category Strategy Development: Develop and implement global category strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives, focusing on cost reduction, value creation, and risk mitigation. Prepare, issue and evaluate RFP/RFQs in coordination with Engineering/Operations to develop scope of work and technical specification.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key global suppliers, driving performance improvements and ensuring compliance with contractual terms and agreements.
- Sourcing & Procurement: Lead global sourcing initiatives to select suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage procurement activities across multiple categories including but not limited to equipment, services, logistics, and materials.
- Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, new suppliers, and market conditions to inform category strategies and decision-making.
- Cost Optimization & Savings: Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and value enhancements across the supply chain.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, ensuring continuity of operations in a global market.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with corporate policies, industry regulations, and contractual obligations. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership on category performance, savings, and risk management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5 years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement within the oil and gas industry.
- Must have 4 years of experience of material/equipment purchasing and expediting experience related to A/E industry, including past purchasing agent experience.
Salary : $95,000 - $100,000
