Summary:
Velocity Machine is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced CMM Programmer to join our quality team. The CMM Programmer is responsible for creating and maintaining CMM programs for all parts produced, conducting dimensional layouts, and assisting with inspections throughout the machining process. Collaborating closely with the Quality Manager, this role ensures that all parts meet dimensional requirements as specified by customer design records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the CMM Programmer include, but are not limited to, the following:
- CMM Programming: Write direct computer-controlled CMM programs using PC-DMIS software correlating to ballooned drawings. Create setup photos and detailed setup instructions.
- Program Verification: Prove out CMM programs and verify their accuracy, addressing discrepancies as needed.
- Machinist Support: To improve part quality, assist machinists and operators in understanding and addressing discrepancies found during first-piece or in-process checks.
- Dimensional Layouts: Conduct in-depth part layouts using CMMs and other layout techniques, documenting and reporting results.
- Incoming Inspections: Perform inspections and layouts for castings, forgings, and other supplied products (e.g., outside machining, forming, bar stock) as required.
- Quality Documentation: Support the creation of new part quality documentation, including ballooned drawings, inspection check sheets, operator instructions, SPC charts, process flow diagrams, PFMEA, control plans, dimensional layouts, part submission warrants (PSW), capability studies, and measurement system analyses.
- Standardized Inspections: Follow established procedures to complete first-piece, in-process, and final inspections across various parts.
- Random Sampling: Understand the importance of random sampling to assess overall performance while auditing entire batches for consistency.
- Gage Calibration: Perform gage verification (calibration) and assist in maintaining the gage recall system.
- Quality Trend Analysis: Observe quality performance trends and communicate corrective action recommendations to management to enhance processes and reduce errors.
- Internal Audits: Actively participate in the internal audit team.
- Additional Responsibilities: Complete other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Coordinate measuring machine programming experience preferred.
- 2-3 years of quality experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to interpret blueprints accurately.
- One year of experience with PC-DMIS software preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in lab and shop environments.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Operate tools and cranes as needed.
- Occasionally move and lift objects up to 75 lbs.
