Overview
The Automotive Detailer plays a critical role in ensuring vehicles meet the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation, both inside and out. This position involves meticulous cleaning, polishing, and finishing of vehicles to enhance their appearance and maintain quality standards. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional results. The Automotive Detailer works closely with other team members to ensure vehicles are prepared to impress clients and meet company expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform interior and exterior vehicle detailing, including washing, buffing, and polishing surfaces.
- Vacuum, shampoo, and deep clean carpets, upholstery, and other interior components.
- Clean and condition leather, plastic, vinyl, and other interior materials.
- Remove dirt, stains, and other imperfections from vehicle surfaces using appropriate cleaning products and techniques.
- Conduct inspections to ensure all detailing work meets quality standards.
- Safely operate detailing tools, such as pressure washers, steam cleaners, and buffers.
- Maintain an organized and clean workspace, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly stored.
- Report any damages, defects, or concerns regarding vehicles to the appropriate supervisor.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies regarding chemical handling and equipment usage.
- Assist with minor touch-ups, including paint correction and scratch removal, if applicable.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in detailing.
- Proficiency in wet sanding and polishing preferred.
- Ability to use an orbital polisher.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a team and take instructions.
- Ability to maintain professional communications with managers, coworkers, and vendors.
Education Background and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Previous automotive detailing experience preferred
Physical Demands (To include but not limited to)
- Prolonged periods of standing or walking around the workspace.
- Frequently lifting heavy objects, such as tools, parts, or equipment, often weighing up to 50-75 pounds.
- Regularly bending, stooping, or crouching to work on vehicles at different heights.
- Moving large or heavy equipment, carts, or vehicles within the shop.
- Precise manipulation of tools and small parts.
- Continuous use of hands, arms, and fingers for tasks like sanding or painting.
- Exposure to loud noises from power tools and machinery.
- Using equipment like polishers or sanders that produce significant vibration.
- Working in non-climate-controlled environments, leading to exposure to heat or cold.
- Potential exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals like solvents, oils, and paints. Proper PPE is often required.
- Ensuring detailed inspections for cleanliness.
- Frequent reaching above the shoulders or below the waist.
- Maintaining physical activity throughout the day without fatigue.
- Adherence to safety protocols to avoid injuries from sharp tools, heavy objects, or moving vehicles.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle.
