What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. System Engineer position at Velocity Search Group?
Our client, a Union in New Rochelle, is looking to hire a Systems Engineer. This is a full time position onsite 3 days a week position.
The primary responsibilities of the Systems Engineer are to maintain servers, applications, software, and cloud systems. While maintaining these systems, an IT Operations Engineer is expected to perform tasks such as :
Optimize system performance by monitoring, troubleshooting issues, and scheduling upgrades to maintain a secure and reliable environment.
Secure mission critical systems by establishing and enforcing policies.
Implement and deploy changes to production, development, stage, and test environments.
Ensure that configuration and change management processes are documented accurately.
Review and respond to security incidents.
Provide 3rd level support to ServiceDesk & Field Service technicians.
Document detailed procedures and instructions
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience working in an enterprise-level environment.
Strong knowledge of Windows Servers, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams,
Directory SCCM and Active
Experience with Microsoft High-Availability & SQL Clustering
Experience with Microsoft DFS, DNS, IIS
Knowledge and understanding of Cloud Computing (Azure and AWS) and SaaS applications.
Experience with VMware vSphere
Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops
Highly proficient with PowerShell scripting
Experience working with enterprise monitoring, automation, and orchestration systems.
Excellent troubleshooting analytical skills with good sense on prioritizing workload
Strong understanding of networking concepts
Experience with ITIL frameworks, change management and release management processes.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Highly organized, motivated, dedicated and a team player.
Industry-related certifications (MCSE, ITIL) a plus
Availability to work during emergencies, and scheduled afterhours and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)
5 years system administration experience with Windows operating systems
2 years system administration experience with Linux operating systems
3 years database administration experience with Microsoft SQL or Oracle
3 years system administration experience with Microsoft 365
2 years security operations experience is a plus.
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related equivalent education required.
Certifications from Microsoft, Red Hat, Carbon Black, VMware, or related technology areas are.
