The Municipality Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and account management of all municipality’s doing business with SVT. This includes managing staff, scheduling maintenance and repairs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and maintaining inventory of parts and supplies. Managing contract renews and proposals of bids. The role requires strong leadership, and administrative skills to ensure the shop operates efficiently and supports the municipality’s needs.

What You’ll Do:
The Municipality Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and account management of all municipality’s doing business with SVT. This includes managing staff, scheduling maintenance and repairs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and maintaining inventory of parts and supplies. Managing contract renews and proposals of bids. The role requires strong leadership, and administrative skills to ensure the shop operates efficiently and supports the municipality’s needs.
Job Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair of municipal vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to extend the life of vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and technical issues and provide solutions.
- Ensure all repairs and services comply with municipal, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain detailed service records and logs for all repairs and maintenance activities.
- Hire, train, and supervise mechanics, technicians, and support staff. On Company SOP and requirements.
- Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure efficiency and quality of work.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
- Enforce workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Oversee labor costs, parts, and equipment purchases.
- Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies to ensure availability while minimizing costs.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for purchasing and contract negotiations.
- Track expenditures and prepare reports for municipal leadership.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA and other workplace safety regulations.
- Conduct safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Work closely with municipal departments to address fleet maintenance needs.
- Provide reports and recommendations to municipal leadership regarding fleet performance and budget planning.
- Act as a liaison between the repair shop and external vendors, service providers, and regulatory agencies.
- Proven experience in fleet maintenance, automotive repair, or heavy equipment servicing.
- Prior management or supervisory experience in a repair shop or similar setting.
- Proficiency in maintenance tracking software and record-keeping systems.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Must be able to pass post offer drug test, and physical.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Work is performed in a repair shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and heavy machinery.
- Some outdoor work may be required in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work for emergency repairs.
