Assembly Technician

About Us

Velocity produces “Restomod” restorations where classic vehicles are upgraded with modern parts, drivetrain, and technology making them functionally new while maintaining an original or vintage aesthetic. The company has pioneered a custom classic vehicle renovation via an assembly line process, ensuring a high level of quality control, with a known price, and significantly decreased build time. We have a talented team of 130 employees and a 135,000 square foot facility in Cantonment, Florida where we are continuing to add additional production lines and new vehicle offerings.

Velocity Restorations stands apart from traditional restoration shops. Our technicians operate within a structured assembly line, with designated stations tailored to specific tasks, including electrical wiring, chassis work, mechanical systems, assembly, and test-and-tune processes. Station assignments are determined based on individual experience and skillsets. Electrical

Duties and Responsibilities (By station)

  • Electrical assembly of classic cars and trucks to include but not limited to 12v wiring and layout of electrical harness throughout vehicle, dash and engine bay, complex relay systems, audio and amp wiring, and integration of multiple aftermarket modules and systems
  • Ability to follow and adhere to an assembly manual
  • Proficient in time management and meeting deadlines
  • Detail oriented while using extreme caution not to damage parts or paint
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to complete the job efficiently and accurately the first time
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well independently or with a team
  • Take clear photos of your work for documentation and customer service purposes
  • Arrive at work with a professional appearance and be ready to begin work at start of shift
  • Abide by dress code and wear PPE as required

Chassis

  • Chassis assembly of classic cars and trucks to include but not limited to installing leaf springs, shocks, axles, steering box, fuel tank, brake lines, engine, transmission, and other components.
  • Ability to follow and adhere to an assembly manual.
  • Proficient in time management and meeting deadlines.
  • Detail oriented while using extreme caution not to damage parts or paint.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to complete the job efficiently and accurately the first time.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well independently or with a team
  • Take clear photos of your work for documentation and customer service purposes
  • Arrive at work with a professional appearance and be ready to begin work at start of shift.
  • Abide by dress code and wear PPE as required

Mechanical

  • Mechanical assembly of classic cars and trucks to include but not limited to drivetrains, 12v wiring, radiators, AC line fabrication, control pack installation, dash components and gauges, chassis setup and assembly, braking systems and minor fabrication
  • Ability to follow and adhere to an assembly manual
  • Proficient in time management and meeting deadlines
  • Detail oriented while using extreme caution not to damage parts or paint.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to complete the job efficiently and accurately the first time
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well independently or with a team.
  • Take clear photos of your work for documentation and customer service purposes
  • Arrive at work with a professional appearance and be ready to begin work at start of shift
  • Abide by dress code and wear PPE as required

Assembly

  • Final assembly of classic cars and trucks to include but not limited to painted sheet metal, door internals, interiors, brightwork and minor 12v wiring
  • Ability to follow and adhere to an assembly manual
  • Proficient in time management and meeting deadlines.
  • Detail oriented while using extreme caution not to damage parts or paint.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to complete the job efficiently and accurately the first time.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well independently or with a team.
  • Take clear photos of your work for documentation and customer service purposes.
  • Arrive at work with a professional appearance and be ready to begin work at start of shift
  • Abide by dress code and wear PPE as required.

Test And Tune

  • Test and tune of classic cars and trucks to include but not limited to alignment’s, testing and repairs of electrical components, inspection of completed work, checking for leaks, testing operation of every component of each vehicle, test drive vehicles and closely monitor quality of drivability
  • Ability to follow and adhere to an assembly manual
  • Proficient in time management and meeting deadlines
  • Detail oriented while using extreme caution not to damage parts or paint.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to complete the job efficiently and accurately the first time
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well independently or with a team
  • Take clear photos of your work for documentation and customer service purposes
  • Arrive at work with a professional appearance and be ready to begin work at start of shift
  • Abide by dress code and wear PPE as required

Refit, Hitlist, Post-Production

  • Postproduction repairs and adjustments of classic cars and trucks to include but not limited to 12v wiring repairs, refit of accessories, test driving, problem solving, panel adjustments, door internal adjustments and warranty repairs.
  • Ability to follow and adhere to an assembly manual.
  • Proficient in time management and meeting deadlines.
  • Detail oriented while using extreme caution not to damage parts or paint.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to complete the job efficiently and accurately the first time
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well independently or with a team
  • Take clear photos of your work for documentation and customer service purposes
  • Arrive at work with a professional appearance and be ready to begin work at start of shift
  • Abide by dress code and wear PPE as required

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working independently.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work daily.
  • Adhere to all health regulations and utilize all safety equipment.
  • Ability to maintain professional communications with managers, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Dependability and work ethic to show up every day on time.
  • Ability to consistently complete the build on time each week with 0 “hits”.
  • Ability to work 7am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, overtime on evenings, Fridays, and weekends as needed.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check is required.
  • Must have own tools. (Tool program available)

Education Background And Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Varying levels of prior automotive experience are required, with specific qualifications depending on the assigned station.

Physical Demands (To include but not limited to)

  • Prolonged periods of standing or walking around the workspace.
  • Frequently lifting heavy objects, such as tools, parts, or equipment, often weighing up to 50-75 pounds.
  • Regularly bending, stooping, or crouching to work on vehicles at different heights.
  • Moving large or heavy equipment, carts, or vehicles within the shop.
  • Precise manipulation of tools, small parts, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Continuous use of hands, arms, and fingers for tasks like tightening bolts, sanding, or painting.
  • Using equipment like impact wrenches or sanders that produce significant vibration.
  • Working in non-climate-controlled environments, leading to exposure to heat or cold.
  • Potential exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals like solvents, oils, and paints. Proper PPE is often required.
  • Ensuring accuracy in measurements, assembly, and inspections.
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting mechanical or structural issues.
  • Frequently reaching above the shoulders or below the waist.
  • Maintaining physical activity throughout the day without fatigue.
  • Adherence to safety protocols to avoid injuries from sharp tools, heavy objects, or moving vehicles.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle.
