This position reports directly to the owners.

General Manager Responsibilities:

  • Front of House team leader, providing constant presence, management and direction, including touching tables, serving guests, running food, overseeing staff, and monitoring door.
  • Awareness of reservations and restaurant resources.
  • Lead by example, setting the standard for VENETO-style service.
  • Provide FOH with necessary tools for success, using the VENETO Bible and supplementary materials as the defining resources and standards.
  • Opening duties including restaurant walk-thru to ensure restaurant is ready for service, prepare for and conduct pre-shift with team, and handle service demands as needed.
  • Close restaurant, including writing daily recaps, reconcile closing reports, final restaurant walk-through
  • Manage all FOH team members, including orientation, training, support, performance management (discipline).
  • Participate in management meetings, lead FOH meetings, contribute to restaurant meetings.
  • Regularly communicate with team and owners, distribute information to team on behalf of leadership.
  • Be a constant steward of the restaurant culture, ensuring it remain positive, productive and healthy, proactively alert ownership before anything would ever become a widespread issue.
  • Assist owners in any projects or ordering as needed.
  • Play a key role in recruiting, interviewing and hiring decisions

Wine & Spirits Knowledge:

  • Food and wine pairings
  • Regional Expertise - Italy
  • Wine sales proficiency
  • Old-world wines
  • Champagne
  • Excellent knowledge of wines and wine service
  • Understanding of viticulture and winemaking
  • Ability to assist with organizing wine cellar, counting monthly inventory and staff wine training
  • Preferably has earned, or is in pursuit of earning wine certification(s)
  • Be prepared to talk to us about your knowledge & experience with old-world wines & champagne
  • Prior experience developing a bar program with unique sprints and cocktails

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS of The Job:

  • 5 years of restaurant experience in high volume, high standards, guest relations and meeting or exceeding operational excellence.
  • Learn, embody, and proudly provide impeccable and invisible service to guests on a nightly basis, exemplifying our restaurant group’s unique style.
  • Excellent emotional self-awareness, with a clear understanding of guest and team boundaries.
  • An appetite for providing exceptional, memorable hospitality for guests.
  • Excellent work ethic and dedication to the hospitality industry. Must love interacting with guests.
  • Extensive experience recruiting, training, motivating and mentoring.
  • Extensive beverage program knowledge: wine, beer, spirits.
  • Ability to work well on a team—receptive to and proactive giving feedback and coaching.
  • Ability to stay calm, professional, and solve problems when under pressure, conflict resolution.
  • Ability to multi-task with great attention to details.
  • Restaurant scheduling, inventory and purchasing.
  • Special event execution
  • Experience working with POS Systems
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication acumen
  • Must have valid Food Handler, Food Safety Knowledge, and Sips & Tips
  • Ability to Lift 40 lbs.
  • Available to work full-time (52.5-55 hours a week), including weekends and holidays.
  • Professional appearance / grooming standards appropriate for a premier dining.
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, and training high caliber FOH team members.
  • Interest in wine and pursuing ongoing wine education, preferred
