Directly responsible for the direction and coordination of all facility warehousing/storeroom activities, including receiving, storage, movement and loading of all product types.
Principal Tasks
- Ensure Company policies and procedures are communicated, applied and enforced fairly and consistently. Supervise and schedule warehouse crew, assist in driver scheduling and routing, as well as the daily management functions to maintain an efficient service-oriented distribution center. Assist in scheduling shipments with carriers. Perform all functions and daily duties of the distribution center. Manage facility when Distribution Manager is out.
- Ensure the Warehouse Associates have the necessary tools to perform job functions safely, accurately, and productively. Ensure all associate payroll records are accurate and turned in on time. Coordinate monthly Safety Meetings.
- Understand and follow OSHA/MSDS standards. Be able to become a certified forklift trainer. Communicate with customers to set delivery appointments. Train Operations Assistant on new processes and procedures. Maintain the asset tracking database, understand contracts with labor services and housekeeping services and be able to communicate with the manager when those need to be addressed. maintain reports for scheduling; inventory reports ; CPU tracking reports, and physical inventory processes. Periodically approve invoices less than $2K.
- Supervise and set priorities for Operations Assistant in processing all documents for daily operation, the Floor Supervisor in daily delegation to warehouse staff, Lead Inventory Manager in daily warehouse maintenance, Warehouse Associates in shipping, receiving, loading and Inventory. Assist in conducting performance reviews on warehouse personnel including action improvement plans.
- Responsible for any other additional duties as assigned by Management.
- WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years experience in a distribution center/manufacturing environment or other operations role, with demonstrable skills in working in a fast paced environment.
- ACADEMIC/TRAINING: An Associate's Degree in Business Management or Operations Management. Bachelor's Degree higher preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- SKILLS: Must have Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook), . Must be bi-lingual English/Spanish, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be detail oriented and have demonstrable skills in handling multiple assignments. Experience with Oracle ERP or similar WMS software, and TMS, RF/RFID hardware systems is a plus. Experience with ISO documentation standards and/or general process flow documentation is preferred. Experience implementing Six Sigma, TQC, Kaizen, lean operating processes, or statistical process controls is a plus.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to stand, sit, move, and use fingers for extended periods of time, hearing, seeing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for long periods of time.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is typical of a warehouse environment where the environment has uncontrolled air, and office where the air is controlled and kept at mild temperatures.
