Position Summary
Our Homeless Prevention Program advocates on behalf of individuals who are at imminent risk of homelessness. Currently, the unit has an opening for two full-time Staff Attorneys.

Position Summary
Our Homeless Prevention Program advocates on behalf of individuals who are at imminent risk of homelessness. Currently, the unit has an opening for two full-time Staff Attorneys.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Participates in the intake of each family where all of the relevant information is gathered.
- Forward if they are provided this one-time assistance.
- Evaluates the situational cause of the first-time eviction reviews and evaluates the family finances to determine whether they can sustain their rental obligations going and works to ensure this is a one-time assistance.
- Negotiates with the landlord and prepares formal settlement stipulations to be filed in court if necessary.
- Makes the ultimate recommendation for rental assistance.
- The Staff Attorney is responsible for all tasks delineated above and any other tasks as assigned.
- A demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve.
- A willingness to be an aggressive advocate for our client population.
- Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally within a highly stressful environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to work constructively with others.
- Ability to speak more than one language is a plus.
- Active membership in the Florida State Bar.
- Experience serving low-income individuals.
