We are currently hiring seasonal Culinary Hosts to support our innovative outdoor food and beverage concept: Sur Stream. This vintage airstream-inspired outlet serves guests in an open-air setting and provides a dynamic and engaging hospitality experience.
This is a seasonal position running from May through September, with the potential to transition into a regular full-time opportunity at the resort, depending on performance and business needs.
The hourly pay range for this opportunity is $22.00 - $25.50 per hour tips. This is the pay rate for this position at Ventana Big Sur, and Alila Resort reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors including experience and training levels.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & F&B Operations
- Serve food and beverages to guests from the Sur Stream outlet in a warm, timely, and professional manner.
- Maintain a deep knowledge of the seasonal menu offerings and communicate effectively with guests about specials and recommendations.
- Anticipate guest needs and personalize interactions to enhance the overall experience.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of the Sur Stream outlet throughout service.
Independent Operations & Oversight
- Operate independently and confidently with limited supervision.
- Follow all operational and service protocols with attention to detail.
- Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and initiative in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service policies.
- Ensure all practices comply with state and local health regulations.
- Maintain active certifications in both Food Handling and Responsible Beverage Service.
Compensation & Perks
- Hourly Range: $22 – $25 per hour plus tips

Qualifications
- Previous food and beverage experience strongly preferred
- Must possess both a valid Food Handler’s certification and a Responsible Beverage Service certification (California RBS)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, and with a guest-first mindset
- Flexible availability including weekends and holiday
- Outdoor service experience is a plus!
