SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the landscaping of beds and surrounding areas on the golf course. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, energetic, and efficient in their performance of the job duties. The model applicant will have strong work ethic and be a team player.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures work assigned to maintenance crew is completed a directed, and the quality of work performed is as expected.
- Instructs and trains golf course personnel in the care and safe, efficient operation of all golf course equipment.
- Supervises project work and crew as directed.
- Assists with calibration of spreaders and sprayers.
- May open shop and run operations in the absence of the Director of Golf Course Maintenance or Assistant Superintendent.
- Assists in the operations and maintenance of irrigation and maintenance systems.
- Operates all equipment used for the golf course maintenance as directed.
- Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and procedures are followed for all job assignments.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
- Applies fertilizer and chemicals to golf course in an accurate and official manner.
- Performs routine equipment maintenance and repair as assigned.
- Assist with daily logs, record keeping and chemical inventories.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Assist in minor construction projects.
Qualifications
Skills/Abilities
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
Education/Experience:
- High School or equivalent education required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current license in pesticide usage (if applicable).
- Able to obtain SPCC Pesticide License within six months.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to physically reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold, indoors/outdoors).
- Must be able to work around chemicals, dust, fumes and/or odor hazards.
- Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne pathogens.
- Must be able to work in a loud environment and in areas near moving mechanical parts.
