We are currently recruiting for a seasoned EHS Generalist for our Visalia plant.
Job Summary
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Generalist provides operational support on safety and environmental matters. The position supports the development of and sustaining safety and environmental initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for employees. In addition, the position drives continuous improvement at multiple sites and works with the business leaders to identify solutions to EHS issues/challenges. The position reports to the EHS Manager. In addition, they will be instrumental in the full integration of safety and environmental management into the facility’s operations as well as ensuring that the facility’s safety and environmental goals are met. The EHS Generalist supports the safety and environmental goals of the company by providing EHS-related training, tracking compliance-related items, maintaining the safety management software, and providing implementation support of EHS programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Effective execution, direction, measurement, and monitoring of all safety and environmental management processes following stablished regulations, policies, standards, and best practices.
- Providing education, training, and support to the Operations team in the development and execution of consistent safety and environmental management training programs.
- Regularly inspecting facilities, machinery, safety equipment, programs, and processes in order to identify and correct potential hazards as well as update guidelines for compliance, risk, and injury reduction to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Supporting compliance with federal, state, county, and city environmental regulations and programs including, but not limited to: EPA, Air Pollution/Quality, Emissions, Process Safety Management/Cal-ARP, Boilers, HAZMAT, RMP (Risk Management Plan), Ventra City Water/Waste, Regional Water Board, Cal-OSHA and local CUPAs.
- Tracking of all permits, reporting, and requirements of permits associated with operations including but not limited to: Air Pollution Board, HAZMAT Handling, Waster Water Permits, Drinking Water Permits and Boiler/Pressure Vessels.
- Leading by example for employees by following all aspects of the site’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Policy as it pertains to normal job duties.
- Supporting the implementation and training of the Emergency Response Plans for each facility.
- Maintaining EHS Management Systems to track facility inspections, safety violations, manner of resolutions, and follow-up reports.
- Compiling and analyzing pertinent safety data to inform other departments of ways to improve workplace safety.
- Maintaining all EHS record-keeping functions and filing to ensure that files are accurately maintained and available for any internal, regulatory, audits, reviews, etc.
- Providing support during EHS regulatory inspections and serving as alternative contact/liaison with representatives from local, state, and federal agencies as needed.
- Managing vendor set-ups, invoice receiving, and requisitions in e: requester.
- Supporting the development and management of Health and Safety programs, policies, procedures, and training.
- Creating, revising, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for all EHS Programs.
- Supporting the EHS Manager collaborating with Human Resources and Operations to ensure timely accident, injury, and occupational illness reporting and investigations to determine root causes, preventative measures, and appropriate remedial action to address and prevent reoccurrence.
- Assisting the EHS Manager in the post-incident management of employees injured in a workplace injury or illness.
- In collaboration with Engineering and Maintenance, performing inspections and reviews of capital projects pertaining to the construction of new facilities, machinery or equipment to determine if all safety and environmental requirements have been met.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) experience is required.
- Able to understand complex regulations and be able to communicate requirements to groups with diverse interests and backgrounds.
- Experience implementing, training and maintaining company safety programs such as Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, Hazard Communication, High Voltage Electrical, Forklift, Aerial Lift, and Ergonomic Assessments.
- Knowledge of Environmental management & reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
- Cal/OSHA and injury reporting knowledge.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Flexible schedule with occasional travel (domestic) is required.
- Act professionally toward customers, visitors, vendors, and co-workers.
- Must be organized and have knowledge of regulatory record-keeping requirements.
- OSHA 10/30-Hour General Industry certification preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must. Sitting, standing, and walking. Minimal climbing, lifting or bending.
Compensation
Range: $68,879 - $75,894 annually (bonus potential for achieving performance goals.)
Salary offers will vary and will be determined by the candidate’s work experience, education, skills, and certifications.

Qualifications
Salary : $68,879 - $75,894
