Hourly Rate: $19.21| $21.35 after 90 day probation (Overtime and weekends may be required)
Shift: 2nd Shift 2pm - 10:30pm | Shift Differential $0.40 hour
Job Summary
- The Fruit Tester is the primary person responsible for the testing of incoming fresh fruit prior to extraction. The tester reports the results to the Quality Assurance Supervisor. This role will drive a YTO yard vehicle to bring fruit loads to the Fruit Receiving Ramp for inspection when necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
- Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.

- Collect fruit samples from incoming fruit shipments.
- Create a berkel sample for oil content testing.
- Extract all fresh fruit samples and analyze in a timely manner.
- Input all data into the portal with accuracy and speed.
- Perform typical product testing for brix, acidity and pH.
- Properly grade fruit for extraction.
- Report all out of compliance concerns with equipment to Quality Assurance Supervisor.
- Perform routine clean-up of JBT Test Extractor and associated equipment as needed.
- Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment.
- Follow all personal hygiene and food safety practices.
- Report non-standard conditions to the Quality Assurance Supervisor immediately.
- Act professionally toward co-workers, customers, vendors or other visitors to the plant.
- Perform other duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Proficient with Sage/ CitRos.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment such as: auto-titrator, refractometer, and pH meter.
- Ability to drive a YTO as necessary.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Physical Requirements
The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must. Regularly required to sit, stand, reach and move about a laboratory and production facilities in normal ambient temperatures. Some lifting of up to 30 lbs. may be required. 50% walking, climbing stairs and ladders in a plant environment; 50% normal office environment at a desk or working at a computer terminal.
- 30% lifting fruit bins of 30lbs into extractor.
- 5% cleaning of the extractor.
- 30% routine Laboratory analysis.
- 20% computer data entry.
- 15% walking, auditing facility.
