About The Role
The Accounting Specialist a key internal advocate of our Shared Values of STEWARDSHIP. Under the direction of the AVP, Controller and Assistant Manager, this position performs accounting duties in the areas of accounts payable, daily balancing, account reconciliations, expense analysis, invoice tracking, 1099 processing, as well as non-routine accounting support duties in areas of general accounting.
What You’ll Do
- Manage Accounts Payable:
- Process and review invoices, ensuring proper approvals and accurate GL coding.
- Maintain vendor records, including terms and W9 documentation.
- Prepare and process Corporate Card, ACH, and check payments while adhering to payment schedules.
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Answers all vendor inquiries.
- Prepare and issue 1099 forms for vendors in compliance with IRS guidelines.
- Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and corporate accounts payable files.
- Quality member service and confidentiality of accounting information being of critical importance in this position.
- Review and update Chart of Accounts on a quarterly basis.
- Prepare analysis of expense accounts, as required.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities including accounts payable accruals.
- Maintain accurate accounting procedures related to accounts payable and expense processing.
- IRA State and Federal tax reporting.
- Assists in research and resolution with any Credit Union account as needed.
- Back up to all areas of accounting as needed. Provides support to other accounting personnel and management, as necessary.
What We’re Seeking
- 2 years’ experience in Accounts Payable or related function is required.
- Intermediate level experience with Windows applications and ability to learn new software applications.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Associate degree or 2 years’ college level education in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred. Demonstrated working knowledge to read, write, and perform routine mathematics/accounting operations.
