Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager
Location: Jacksonville, FL

Summary

The EHS Manager ensures compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO 45001:2018, and corporate safety policies, promoting a proactive safety culture and risk management. This role involves hazard identification, risk assessment, operational controls, and fostering high safety performance.

Requirements

• Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or maritime trade school/apprenticeship.
  • 5 years of waterfront EHS experience for NAVSEA contract work or 4 years of military service with EHS training 3 years waterfront experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Shipyard Regulations, NAVSEA Standard Items, JFMM, NSTM, and DoD specifications.
  • Experience managing an Occupational Safety & Health system (ISO 45001:2018).
  • Proficiency in First Aid, CPR/AED, and Microsoft Office.

• Certifications (Preferred):

  • Shipyard Competent Person (29 CFR 1915, NAVSEA 009-07)
  • OSHA 5410 (Maritime Safety), 3115 (Fall Protection), 3095 (Electrical Standards), 521 (Industrial Hygiene)
  • HAZWOPER, EPA RCRA, DOT RST, DOT HAZMAT

Responsibilities

• Act as Safety Representative for fire prevention and housekeeping (NSI 009-08).
• Perform inspections of confined spaces and authorize hot work.
• Lead toolbox training and maintain training records.
• Oversee safety compliance for production trades and conduct risk assessments.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE.
• Review work packages for EHS compliance.
• Conduct audits, inspections, and develop JSAs/JHAs.
• Investigate accidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain safety documentation and ensure hazardous material handling compliance.

Additional Requirements

• U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, able to obtain security clearance.
• Pass pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check.
• Ability to work overtime and access military bases/shipyards.
• Physical ability to lift 45 lbs, work in confined spaces, and endure extreme conditions.
• May require up to 30% travel including international locations.
