What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Pipefitter position at Venture Dynamics Enterprises, Inc.?
Pipefitters are assigned to rip out, repair, target, layout, fabricate, install and test marine piping systems onboard ships in various stages of repair and modernization
Repair and replacement of ships’ piping systems such as Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust etc. are accomplished utilizing work item specifications, NAVSEA/Military standards and marine blueprints
Necessary fabrication abilities include the use of various shop equipment such as table saws, pipe threading machines, bending machines (power as well as hand operated), drill presses and brazing equipment
Tasks associated with this position are the strain free of pumps and miscellaneous ship equipment as well as blanking, pressure testing of tanks (structural boundary testing) and unblinking of the same. Performs related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years pipefitting in a Marine/Shipyard environment
Proficient in fabrication, installation and testing marine piping systems
Ability to understand, perform and certify in silver brazing.
Must be able to read and interpret marine piping blueprints and military specifications
Must be able to pass written and hands on exams to include:
o Written Pipefitter Journeyman Exam
o Blueprint Reading Exam
o Hands on Silver Braze Exam
o Vision Exam
Candidates may be required to travel to different sites or Naval Bases
Must be able to use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
Must be flexible to working all shifts (1st, 2nd, &3rd)
Must have own tools
Must have own transportation
Must be US Citizen
Must pass drug and background screening and be eligible to obtain DBIDS Badge
Physical Requirements:
· Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position.
· Successfully pass a drug and alcohol screening
· Ability to accomplish pipe fabrication processes in shop and ship board environments
