Marine Pipefitter

Pipefittersare assigned to rip out, repair, target, layout, fabricate, install and testmarine piping systems onboard ships in various stages of repair andmodernization

Repairand replacement of ships' piping systems such as Auxiliary Salt Water, FireMain, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, EngineExhaust etc. are accomplished utilizing work item specifications,NAVSEA / Military standards and marine blueprints

Necessaryfabrication abilities include the use of various shop equipment such as tablesaws, pipe threading machines, bending machines (power as well as handoperated), drill presses and brazing equipment

Tasksassociated with this position are the strain free of pumps and miscellaneousship equipment as well as blanking, pressure testing of tanks (structuralboundary testing) and unblinking of the same. Performs related tasks asassigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

RequiredQualifications :

Minimum 5 years pipefitting in a Marine / Shipyard environment

Proficient in fabrication, installation and testing marine piping systems

Ability to understand, perform and certify in silver brazing.

Must be able to read and interpret marine piping blueprints and militaryspecifications

Must be able to pass written and hands on exams to include :

o Written Pipefitter Journeyman Exam

o Blueprint Reading Exam

o Hands on Silver Braze Exam

o Vision Exam

Candidatesmay be required to travel to different sites or Naval Bases

Must be able to use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently

Must be flexible to working all shifts (1st, 2nd, &3rd)

Must have own tools

Must have own transportation

Must be US Citizen

Must pass drug and background screening and be eligible to obtain DBIDS Badge

Physical Requirements :

• Must be physically capable ofperforming the essential functions of the position.
• Successfully pass a drug andalcohol screening
• Ability to accomplish pipefabrication processes in shop and ship board environments
