Position Summary:
To lead a team in the high volume environment of an OEM yard operation. This is to include inbound/outbound areas and ensuring the processes of customer inventory are completed timely, accurately, and measurably. Responsible for general operation, safety processes, personnel management and coaching, and continuous improvement efforts. Manage the yard operation and movement of trailers in a facility with 1200 trailer capacity. Operation runs 24 hours per day, 5 days a week, with weekend work as determined by customer needs.
Essential Job Functions for this Position:
- Available for on-site work, Monday – Friday | Hours to be determined by operational needs and weekends as requested by customer requirements. Weekends as needed based on customers need.
- Manage/ Report out on weekly/ monthly KPI’s
- Monitor/ Audit daily operations; identify areas for continuous improvement opportunities
- Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations; including oversight of the company’s safety programs and employee safety training
- Understand to participate in 3PL operations discussions as it relates to the Yard processes
- Complete customer directed tasks such as inventory audits, cycle counts, and trailer counts
- Understand technology systems as it relates to track and trace, interpreting historical data, and identify continuous improvement efforts
- Open communication with co-workers, subordinates, and leaders within the organization to work through issues as they arise
- Responsible for the entirety of the shift operation.
- Must maintain availability for emergency situations
- Maintain proficiency in completing work from anywhere
- Understand, maintain, and continually improve the financial pulse of the operation
Other Significant Functions Include:
- Proficient in time management and multi-tasking
- Must be able to prioritize and quickly pivot when needed
- Must be able to work independently with little oversight
- Be flexible with formal and informal environments
Requirements
Required Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics and supply chain management
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in employee management
Preferred Education/ Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience in supply chain and logistics, distribution, or related field of study
Required Skills (Technical, Clerical, Language, Etc.):
- Must exhibit the ability to set goals, prioritize, plan, organize and manage projects from contemplation to completion with and without supervision.
- Work within budgets as well as innovate and plan to cut unnecessary costs.
- Communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
- Manage and train employees and temporary workers.
Work Environment:
- Job to be performed within an office environment and/or setting
- Work outside in the yard operation as needed/ travel around customer facility site
