Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. This position will report to our Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting and will be located in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare day-to-day and month-end close entries including but not limited to cash, restricted cash, investments, accrued liabilities, other assets and liabilities, prepaid insurance, and intercompany related transactions
• Support preparation of monthly intercompany billing and related analytics
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for various types of bank accounts, including operating, investing and project financing
• Prepare detailed reconciliations for additional assigned areas of responsibility including prepaid and liability accounts
• Execute assigned tasks for the monthly accounting close and financial statement preparation processes, including variance analysis of assigned accounts for monthly close meetings
• Ensure accounting close deadlines are completed and tracked appropriately for the assigned tasks on the month-end close checklist 
• Respond to auditor requests that arise during the quarterly reviews and year-end audits
• Support foreign statutory financial reporting requirements and tax compliance by providing supporting schedules, general ledger information, and preparing other necessary reports
• Update, maintain and document standard operating procedures for workpapers and areas of responsibility
• Partner with the Internal Controls function to establish and maintain system of internal controls in areas of responsibility
• Develop a strong understanding of the SAP S4 HANA ERP system
• Other duties as required and assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• CPA or CPA candidate is a plus
• 3 - 4 years of experience in an audit or other corporate accounting related role (mix of industry and Big 4 experience is a plus)
• General understanding of GAAP
• General understanding of internal controls
• Strong planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work; strong sense of urgency
• Superior attention to detail and ability to problem solve, work independently, and consistently meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Strong communication and skills (written and oral)
• Excellent proficiency in Excel
• Experience with SAP S4HANA (accounting system) is a plus
