Role Overview
The Purchasing Agent position aims to ensure that quality products are consistently maintained at optimum quantity levels and at the best possible cost to generate sales and maximize profits.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and review assigned product groups (Buy Lines).
- Utilize purchasing queues to identify purchasing needs for the assigned Buy Lines across the enterprise.
- Analyze and summarize product historical data and trends to verify purchasing needs.
- Submit Purchase Order (PO) requisition to suppliers and compare bids.
- Execute PO and / or Transfer to fill inventory requirements.
- Forward PO to preferred suppliers and obtain Order Acknowledgment (OA).
- Reconcile OA to PO and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers.
- Expedite open POs.
- Be a resolution contact between branches and suppliers of any shipping issues, such as quantity variance, incorrect items, and damaged / nonconformance materials.
- Be a point of contact between the Accounts Payable department and suppliers for any pricing and / or credit issues.
- Performs additional duties as assigned or required.
