Position Summary:
The Senior Financial Systems Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, SOX Compliance and will be responsible for the evolution and enhancement of systems utilized by the Finance and Accounting organization. This position will be based in Brisbane and will be a hands-on position that will be responsible for the IT support of accounting and finance needs, specifically dealing with systems implementations, managing IT change requests, workflow automation, IT compliance and reporting improvements. The ideal candidate will possess a robust blend of technical expertise, business acumen, communication skills, and a proven track record in driving efficiency and innovation. This position will be partnering with Vera’s IT function to ensure Finance and IT are aligned on timelines, deliverables and respective expectations.

For this role, the anticipated base pay range begins at $100,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geography, qualifications, skills, and experience.
At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity. Responsibilities:
- Own and manage financial systems improvements, including refinement and automation of processes and reporting
- Assist in the implementation of robust accounting system procedures and related integrations, internal controls, and ongoing monitoring activities
- This position will implement, administer, and support assigned systems under the minimal guidance of more senior members of the team
- Perform system administration tasks to support the Finance and Accounting organization's use of enterprise business systems such as NetSuite, FloQast, and other relevant applications and tools
- Represent the Finance and Accounting organization in system initiatives, including defining business requirements, scoping enhancements, conducting design reviews, and coordinating user acceptance testing
- Assist in developing documentation of policies and procedures, surrounding financial system configurations, workflows
- Take ownership of troubleshooting and resolving financial system issues by working closely with IT and external system administrator consultants, particularly around data inconsistencies, user administration, user access and system errors
- Acts as a liaison between business teams, application vendors and IT for system integration, enhancement and issue fixes
- Support the troubleshooting of system related issues and ensure appropriate documentation is assembled to record the issue description, root cause analysis and path to resolution
- Act as a technology subject matter expert and clearly communicate technical concepts in business terms between and across the different stakeholder groups while influencing outcome
- Ensure change control process from procedures, issue tracking, development of training materials, communicating changes, and delivering training to end users
- Assist with audit requests by internal and external auditors as it relates to financial systems
- Act as a key point of contact for financial system-related inquiries and support, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, finance or accounting, information systems or related field; CISA, CIA, or CPA a plus
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial systems administration such as NetSuite, FloQast, procure to pay systems, time and expense tools, SOX compliance or internal audit platforms; Certification with NetSuite a plus
- Prior experience of managing financial system implementations and process improvements; Procurement system implementation experience a plus
- Knowledge of core business and financial applications as well as other information and computer applications used in the biotechnology industry
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems and workflows and implement solutions to simplify, streamline, and automate transactions
- Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and interpret results with the objective of proposing solutions to achieve the best outcomes for the department and organization as a whole
- Prior experience with systems and data integrations, and workflow automation; data analytics experience a plus
- Change management experience, ensuring the adoption of critical initiatives and changes in business processes
- Good understanding of financial principles and processes (e.g., accounting month-end close, automated accounting entries, reconciliation, procure to pay processes) and IT and SOX compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with confidence and clarity
- Strong business acumen and understanding of financial and accounting processes, with the ability to translate processes into business and technical requirements
- Highly collaborative style with strong influencing skills and attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
