Currently, we are searching for a Junior LAN Technician to join our team ON SITE in Atlanta, GA.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve LAN connectivity issues, ensuring minimal downtime for users.
- Provide support in the setup and management of networked devices such as printers, servers, and workstations.
- Perform routine network health checks, monitoring performance, and conducting system diagnostics.
- Collaborate with senior technicians to implement network upgrades, optimizations, and security measures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, troubleshooting steps, and system changes.
- Assist with the configuration of network access control, user permissions, and security policies.
- Provide second-level support to PC technicians and escalate issues when necessary.
- Participate in network-related projects and assist in implementing new technology solutions.
- Ensure compliance with company security policies, best practices, and provide support in security policy configuration.
- Troubleshoot LAN hardware, operating system software, software components, peripherals, network printing, print queues, and agency-approved mobile devices.
- Provide a single point of contact and client interface for contract management and compliance.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server software, including configuration, upgrades, and patches (e.g., SCCM or similar patch management software).
- Collaborate with teams to identify problems, analyze data, and formulate solutions.
- Assist end-users with LAN and computer-related problems, providing support and training when necessary.
- Work on the technical aspects of LAN hardware and software, ensuring maintenance, routine service, updates, and security.
- Support network troubleshooting and repairs, escalating issues to senior team members as needed.
- Monitor network performance and conduct system diagnostics to ensure optimal network health.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting desktop software and hardware in a Windows environment.
- Five years of LAN experience with extensive knowledge of PC/LAN communications, hardware/software in a multi-protocol environment, and network management software.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and LAN security principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues as a second level of support to PC technicians.
- Familiarity with networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and LAN technologies.
- Knowledge of network hardware, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot network connectivity issues and perform network health checks.
- Experience with MS Windows Server operating systems, MS Office products, and other COTS applications.
- Experience with configuration, upgrading, and patching of Microsoft Server software.
- Knowledge of network security principles and best practices is a plus.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools is a bonus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with end-users and management.
- A degree or certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- CompTIA Network or similar networking certification (or willingness to pursue certification).
- Regular and predictable attendance.
