Veracity Engineer is seeking a Software Engineer with technical expertise to support the analysis, development, tracking, adjustment, enhancements, and maintenance of software applications efforts currently underway to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Responsibilities

Responsible for building, maintaining, and analyzing program data.
Create and maintain the website, such as non-proprietary coding for safety tool, to support pilot reporting.
Monitor and generate program / project status, schedule indicators, project schedule trends, critical path analysis, and schedule optimizations.
Develop software enhancements and development efforts that are currently underway.
Develop, implement, operate, and maintain application software using authoring tools to build application program interfaces that enable capture, access, reporting, and sharing of data, capabilities, training, and other functions.
Implement software applications using the best coding practices for infrastructure, databases, specific programming languages / platforms (e.g., Linux, Apache, MySQL, AWS), and web applications / accessibility. Apply a broad range of technical skills (e.g., PHP, .NET, HTML, Oracle, MySQL / MariaDB, PostgreSQL, GIS, Apache, RedHat Linux) and current technology trends in developing products.
Support Cloud-based software development, deployment, sustainment, maintenance, and improvement, specifically utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS), FAA Cloud Services (FCS), and Enterprise Information Management (EIM) for hosting, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), and Data as a Service (DaaS).
Support applicable development, security, data governance, and technological constraints specific to those domains, such as DevSecOps, Containerization, GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible Playbook, SolarWinds, Collibra (Data Governance Center) and address security Plans of Actions and Milestones (POAMs).

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, information systems, or related field (5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree).

Qualifications

Must have 10 – 15 years’ experience in software engineering analysis.

Excellent interpersonal skills, facilitation, project management skills, written and oral communication skills, and analytical skills.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word.

Physical requirements :

Extended Computer Use : Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.

Mobility : Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms.

Dexterity : Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.

Sitting / Standing : Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.

Background check : Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
