Job Description
The Configuration Manager is accountable for implementation and direct execution of the process on a day-to-day basis in line with global standards within a given domain. Typically, a domain covers one or more geographic regions, delivery organizations, service lines or Customer Accounts. This includes managing all activities required to plan, identify, control, track, and audit of Configuration Items (CIs) within Standard Reference Architecture (SRA) Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
It is strongly recommended to identify a Configuration Manager per Customer Account; however, it is recognized that an individual Configuration Manager may be responsible for several small Customer Accounts.
The Configuration Manager is overall responsible to ensure that individuals within their domain are trained on the Configuration Management process; that the process is understood and adhered to; plus, the completeness, accuracy and integrity of CI data stored within the CMDB is fit for purpose to meet the needs of the business and conforms to global Technology standards. They lead evaluations within their domain in order to identify process, automation and delivery operations improvement opportunities. The person working as a Configuration Manager in our group has to know how to handle Service Discovery and mapping.
They also need to have a technical knowledge of the CMDB. They need a technical understanding on how to ensure that all configuration items are coming into the environment and if not they have the skillset to figure out what needs to be done to get the items into the CMDB.

Owns the Configuration Management Plan to guide the implementation and operation of the global process and any associated standards / best practices within a given domain (e.g. Customer Account, Service Line, Delivery Organization, and / or Region). They need to have a deep technical knowledge of how to troubleshoot CMDB discovery problems and know how to determine who they need to work with to overcome hurdles to get the data into the CMDB.
Manages the planning, identification, control, tracking and auditing of all in scope Configuration Items (CIs) in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) as defined globally and documented within the Configuration Management Plan. The same statement goes hear. They need to be technical and understand how to setup discovery schedules and service mapping so the CMDB is getting better. They are responsible for helping to determine and fix any items that getting billed to Bank are coming into the CMDB and if not there should be a quick turnaround time to get them fixed. All items that touches have to go into the CMDB.
Promotes effective use of the Configuration Management process, CI data and the CMDB in line with DXC Technology standards and policies within the organization in support of Service Management & Delivery Excellence (SMDE) and operational processes. They have to make sure that all members are making sure that all items that Bank is billed for are in the CMDB or we cannot pay for those services until the problems are resolved.
Produces Configuration Management metric reports for their domain contained in this Configuration management plan. The management metric reports have to show the quality of what is verified and added to the CMDB each month prior to billing Bank.
Manages and reports on Maturity Assessment activities and audits. The reports should be reviewed with my team to make sure the activities are bringing value to our CMDB.
Reviews reports with Delivery Organization Management, Customer Account teams and Configuration Management forums as appropriate to evaluate process performance, usage, and compliance and improvement opportunities. Rhis data should be reviewed with the CMDB team.
Ensures consistency and integrity of CI data in alignment with the client supported environment through the execution of CMDB verification and audit procedures, and ad hoc compliancy checks. I agree but that means and I will use and example for any server that adds to the environment comes in with CI owner, application owner, support group and other determine items with the CMDB are on every device that is stood up in our environment.
Maintains domain specific supporting documentation (where required) and ensures training collateral is available.
CFGM supports only the KPE completeness process by monitoring and auditing each active defined KPE as per Client's Contract. Any KPE accuracy is PEM responsibility.
Complies with Global Process and Standard Reference Architecture (SRA) standards and best practices.
