An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Automation Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis in our Capital Engineering Department. The job holder will be required to assist the site Principal Process Control and Automation Engineer in maintaining and developing the site control systems and their related documentation sets.
This role will also work to ensure that site manufacturing downtime is minimised by ensuring site control systems are compliant and reliable.
A key focus of this role will be to help build an understanding of the planned obsolescence and upgrade paths for the various control systems on site.

Key responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible to:
- Provide support to production and engineering staff, including out-of-hours contact and call outs, to resolve control and automation manufacturing issues.
- Carry out periodic maintenance and reviews of site control systems.
- Assist with any automation activities required during CAPEX projects, from initial information gathering and scoping/design, through to carrying out modifications, testing and assisting with qualification.
- Ensure control system documentation is maintained and up to date.
What you need for the role
To succeed in this role you will have;
- Strong understanding of Rockwell Process Automation suite; Studio/RSLogix5000, FactoryTalk View SE, FactoryTalk Batch is essential.
- Experience with configuring and troubleshooting a range of PLC, HMI and SCADA packages is essential.
- Good experience in industrial automation and control. Understanding of principles and practices of system integration is essential.
- Competence in pharmaceutical manufacturing practices; GAMP, GDP preferred.
- Understanding of industrial IT and networking devices preferred.
- Awareness of OT Cybersecurity best practices preferred.
- Ability to interpret relevant engineering drawings; loop drawings, wiring schematics, interconnection drawings, ELD/P&IDs preferred.
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal is essential.
- Enjoys problem solving but has the confidence to seek assistance where necessary.
- Pays close attention to detail and takes care in their work.
