About the Position:
The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for assisting with daily tasks of the maintenance team to ensure all equipment and building systems are operating at peak efficiencies. This includes but is not limited to site fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, building safety and facilities.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and perform preventative and routine maintenance (i.e. conducting preventative maintenance check-ups or reading charts and data)
- Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
- Perform installation, configuration, and relocation of furniture and workstations, as needed.
- Complete work orders for common areas of facility, in a timely manner maintaining high quality standards.
- Conduct minor & major repairs to equipment or facility, such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, and/or painting. Diagnose and repair failures of equipment.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of the plant, production, or warehouse facilities.
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs.
- Carry out inspections of the facility to identify and resolve issues.
- Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to management.
- Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
- Set up and operate QC water jet in a safe and efficient manner.
- Work in plumbing, electrical, HVAC repairs, HVAC installations, HVAC maintenance.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
- Follow all required work safe practices. This would include lockout-tagout requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
- Responsible for following all food safety rules, and food quality rules related to designated area.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management, within scope and abilities.
Summary of Experience and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical school training is a plus
- Minimum of two years’ experience in facilities maintenance
- Proven ability to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, construction, and repair tasks in assigned areas
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions
- Mechanical aptitude with a creative, problem-solving mindset
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across departments
- Self-motivated and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Proficient in the safe and effective operation of various vehicles and equipment, including Multivac and Myralac machines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cold environment (27°F – 45°F)
- Experience with the food service industry processing machinery is a plus
- Commitment to following all safety regulations and adhering to company policies and procedures (Verde Farms)
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- Willingness to work overtime based on business demands
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
