What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Lead - ST & I Operations position at Verdesian Brand?
Essential Responsibilities:
- Acquire and demonstrate hands-on knowledge and understanding of all ST&I production processes to adequately coordinate the daily work of the ST&I team at the Cape Girardeau site
- Provide leadership on the floor to help production employees receive, warehouse, distribute, and produce products within Verdesian Operations
- Safety:
- Comply with prescribed safety procedures or federal laws regulating waste disposal methods
- Conduct daily safety huddle with entire staff and maintain safety standards
- Maintain thorough knowledge of pertinent regulations governing property storage and management of hazardous materials, including solvents, flammables and chemicals
- Maintain accurate records of safety procedures concerning lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, etc.
- Oversee plant safety program on the floor to ensure employees are working in a manner consistent with training, injury reporting, and assuring plant environment is accessible and safe for employees, customers, and public
- Assure shift personnel are following all safety procedures at all times
- Watch new personnel closely during their onboarding periods to create a positive safety culture
- Quality:
- Maintain the ability to fulfill any production role in the ST&I area
- Examine machinery used in the production process to verify conformance to quality standards
- Production Lead:
- Gain proficient understanding and be capable of operating all equipment involved in dry and liquid ST&I operations.
- Storage and staging of materials in an orderly and consistent manner, i.e., Raw vs. WIP vs Finished
- Maintain housekeeping practices in the plant to a high standard to be ready at any time for customers or management tours of the facility
- Read work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
- Observe equipment operations, test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning
- Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training
- Inventory Management:
- Review shift paperwork to ensure pertinent information is recorded by each operator in each production area to point out and highlight issues affecting production as well as use and consumption of raw materials, clean outs and finished goods
- Work with management to ensure that inventory supply of materials consistently meets appropriate demand
- Project support for new startups of products specifically assigned by management
- Complete facilities maintenance duties as assigned
- Other duties not listed above as assigned by immediate supervisor. This will include assignment to other work areas/roles when the ST&I operation is idle.
Criteria:
- Proficiency in all Verdesian products software and programs related to job functions of this position
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to be fit tested and don a mask
- Proficient use of MS Office: Word and Excel
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize work
- Ability to handle oneself in stressful situations
- Maintain production quality
- Observe Safe Food/Safe Feed criteria
- Complete required production forms and recording
- Perform basic maintenance as needed and assist maintenance as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 months in a manufacturing leadership or machine operator role
- Minimum education of high school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
