Summary

The System Administrator is responsible for the implementation, management and maintenance of essential IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, hypervisors, windows networking, and cloud services. This position will act as a liaison to internal and external stake holders in order to provide technical review, design and deployment, and advanced support of systems running enterprise applications.

Essential Functions

• Create excellent service experiences that promote the Veridian brand.
• Microsoft Windows Domain Administration: Responsible for deploying and maintaining a Microsoft Active Directory environment with multiple domain controllers. . Manage domain services including Public Key Infrastructure and Certificate Management, DNS, DHCP, Print, and File.
• Expert level knowledge of Active Directory Users and Computers and Group Policy in an Enterprise environment.
• Act as a support escalation point for other application analysts, administrators, and technical team members in the organization. Assist with installs and troubleshooting as required.
• Cloud Administration: Manage cloud service providers including, but not limited to, Microsoft 365, Cyberark (Identity providers), Azure, AWS and other third party SAAS solutions. Ensure security and compliance requirements are met.
• Maintain knowledge of and adhere to the highest security standards for our user administration, role based access, and following the principle of least privilege.
• Collaborate and work closely with the IT Security department in planning and executing best practice security objectives adhering to PCI and other highly secure compliance requirements.
• Responsible for administration and troubleshooting of the corporate Exchange email system including web and mobile access. Create new mailbox resources, manage permissions, and troubleshoot delivery issues using exchange tools or the email archiving system.
• Ensure that all systems are backed up successfully and are transferred offsite. Ensure Recovery Point and Recovery Time objectives are within acceptable limits for each application being protected. Make recommendations for improvement when necessary.
• Administer all storage which includes direct attached, NAS, or SAN systems using both iSCSI and Fiber Channel protocols. Provision storage for file systems, servers, and the Virtual Environment. Manage the replication of storage when applicable.
• Deploy and manage ESX servers and manage with VMWare administration. Virtualize existing physical servers when applicable. Provision resources and deploy servers. Ensure disaster recovery capabilities by providing redundant systems offsite and managing replication of Virtual Servers to provide required RTO/RPO.
• Web Application Firewall administration and Network Load Balancer administration.
• Work with department managers to identify RTO and RPO backup requirements for applications and services. Coordinate recovery strategies between technical groups to satisfy disaster recovery requirements. Create, document, and test the recovery processes.
• Research, recommend, install, maintain, and document new technology to provide the best quality and value to the organization.
• Act as a technical liaison for organization departments during project planning phases of new systems. Ensure that Veridian has the proper technical infrastructure and capacity to satisfy system requirements. Identify key stakeholders. Provide budget estimates to management for any IT costs related to the project due to licensing, or infrastructure upgrades that may be necessary to complete the project as well as possible timelines.

Required Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience of 8 years.
• 5 years of experience in an IT related field with direct experience in the following:
• Microsoft Active Directory
• DNS
• DHCP
• Group Policy
• Scripting language or Command Line (PowerShell, Batch, Python, etc.)
• 3 years of experience with the following systems:
• Microsoft Exchange Server
• VMWare ESX Infrastructure
• Storage Array Administration
• Cloud Applications, Identity, and Infrastructure

Preferred Education and Experience

• Experience with the following:
• Linux
• Microsoft 365 Apps and Entra Identity
• Azure Infrastructure and Platform services
• PCI Compliance and Zero Trust Frameworks
